Brave browser launches an Ad Network while blocking publisher’s ads

The browser Brave yesterday announced the creation of Brave Ads, an ad network part of Brave Rewards, enabling users to opt-in to view ads for earning BAT. BAT means Basic Attention Tokens. Brave Ads have a 70 percent revenue share to users and are enabled by default when users opt into Brave Rewards.

Users can transfer earned BAT out of their Brave Rewards wallet and convert the tokens to many digital assets and fiat currencies.

Brave browser automatically blocks all ads from publishers using ad servers, and now Brave is selling ads on top of those websites. The business model was first started by Adblock Plus, which is doing similar to Acceptable Ads, but without the revenue share to users.

The targeting matching happens directly on the user’s device, and the data is never sent to anyone, Brave guarantees.

Brave says it has already delivered nearly 475 ad campaigns, from brands such as Intel, Pizza Hut, and Home Chef.
