Chitika this month emailed publishers announcing that is shutting down operations, after more than 15 years in business. The online ad network Chitika was founded in 2003 and was headquartered in Westborough, MA, and had offices in Hyderabad, India.
According to Chitika, they had a demand of four billion ads each month to a network of over 300,000 sites. Chitika’s advertising partners included Yahoo, SuperMedia, hibu and HomeAdvisor, among others.
Chitika is asking publishers to remove all Chitika ad codes from all the websites before April 30th, as any Chitika ad code or other calls to Chitika ad services after this time period, will cease to operate.
Chitika says that due to termination of the partnership with their biggest exchange partner, no earnings accumulated after March 1st 2019 will be paid out. All earnings after March 1st 2019 have been chargebacked by the exchange and money has been returned to the advertisers.
