New Safari 12 prevents tracking from social media and is suppressing retargeting

Apple today launched an update of Safari, version 12, that is improving once more the privacy of the users. According to the update, recommended for all macOS High Sierra, the new Safari 12 is preventing embedded content and social media buttons from tracking cross-site browsing without permission.

On the new Safari update, Apple is also suppressing ad retargeting by reducing advertisers' ability to identify Mac devices uniquely.

The new update happened on the day iOS 12 was released to download. Apple's focus on privacy is not new. Around one year ago, Apple introduced the Intelligent Tracking Prevention on Safari, a protection in the meantime defeated by Google and Microsoft.
