ProtonMail this week launched a calendar directly available from the ProtonMail inbox. A calendar on ProtonMail was a long-waited product, often requested by ProtonMail users. ProtonMail says ProtonCalendar is the first fully encrypted calendar app, and where users can keep their data private.

ProtonCalendar beta is already available for users with a paid plan, but ProtonMail says that once ProtonCalendar is publicly released, a basic version will be available to all ProtonMail users (including Free users), while paid Proton users will benefit from additional functionality.

ProtonCalendar uses end-to-end encryption. The event title, description, location, and participants for every event are encrypted on the device before they reach ProtonMail servers, so no third party (including ProtonMail) can see the details of your events.

ProtonMail says ProtonCalendar is the first product that will be followed by ProtonDrive, a cloud where users can privately save and share documents.

ProtonCalendar is only available in the web version. ProtonMail says it will also bring ProtonCalendar to iOS and Android, with dedicated mobile apps in 2020.
