Thank you for reading PPC Land. This page answers the questions that come up most often about accounts, billing, email delivery, and how the publication works.

If something here does not cover your question, email info@ppc.land.

What's on the site

Everything published falls into one of three categories.

News is the daily reporting and the bulk of the site: platform changes, regulatory action, litigation, acquisitions, and market developments across the advertising supply chain. Stories start from primary documents such as court filings, regulatory decisions, earnings disclosures, platform release notes, and IAB specifications, rather than from press releases. Free to read.

Explainer takes a single term or mechanism in ad tech and sets out how it actually works, who controls it, and why it matters. These are longer, slower pieces meant to stay useful months after publication, which is the opposite of what the News tag is for. Free to read.

Games is a daily word puzzle built from ad tech terminology. A new grid appears every day. This is the one part of the site reserved for Supporters, because it is the only thing here that is not journalism, and gating reporting behind a paywall would defeat the point of publishing it.

Accounts and membership

How do I sign up?

Go to the Membership page and pick a tier. The first tier is free and delivers the daily email. The paid tier is $10 per month or $100 per year.

What does a Supporter membership include?

Three things beyond the daily email:

  • The site with no advertising, including no rewarded ad before articles
  • A private, ad-free RSS feed tied to your account
  • Access to Games, the daily ad tech word puzzle

The reporting itself is not gated. Every article stays free to read.

How do paid memberships work?

You can pay monthly or yearly. Whenever you cancel, access continues until the end of the period you already paid for, and then stops automatically. Billing is handled by Stripe, and the management tools sit in your own account, so cancellations, plan changes, and card updates are yours to make at any time. There are no pro rata refunds for time left on a period.

How do I sign in?

Go to ppc.land/signin and enter the email address you signed up with. A one-time login link arrives in your inbox. Click it and you are in.

If the link does not seem to work, check first whether you are already signed in on that browser. Sessions last weeks or months, so you may not need to sign in at all.

Why is there no password?

The site runs on Ghost, which uses emailed login links rather than passwords. Nothing is stored that could be leaked in a breach, because there is no password to store. The tradeoff is that you need access to your inbox to sign in.

I don't remember which email address I used

Look at the address the daily newsletter is delivered to. If that does not settle it, email info@ppc.land and the account can be looked up on the back end. Typos at signup happen and are usually easy to fix.

Can I get an invoice or receipt?

Yes. Sign in, open your account, and click through to billing. That opens the Stripe portal, where every past invoice is listed and can be downloaded or printed. If your company needs a VAT number or a different billing name on the invoice, you can add those details in the same portal.

Do memberships renew automatically?

Yes, unless you cancel. Renewal is at the standard rate of $10 per month or $100 per year, including for anyone who joined on a promotional price.

How do I cancel?

  1. Sign in at ppc.land/signin
  2. Open your account and choose to change your plan
  3. Select cancel, then confirm

Access to Supporter features continues until the paid period runs out. Refunds are not standard practice, though genuinely exceptional cases can be raised at info@ppc.land

If I cancel early, do I keep access until the period ends?

Yes. Cancelling ahead of time is a reasonable way to avoid a renewal you have forgotten about. You keep everything until the date you already paid through, then the Supporter features switch off. No reminder is sent at that moment, and the private RSS feed stops working at the same time.

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Yes, in your account. Moving from monthly to yearly takes effect immediately and starts a fresh twelve months from that date, so any days left in the current month are lost. If that matters to you, wait until the month is nearly over before switching.

Moving from yearly to monthly leaves your access running to the end of the year you paid for, after which monthly billing begins.

Can I give a membership as a gift?

Yes. Use the gift page, enter the recipient's email address, and they will be notified.

Email and feeds

How do I stop receiving the newsletter?

Every edition carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also sign in, open your account, manage your email settings, and switch delivery off there.

Does turning off emails cancel my paid membership?

No. Email delivery and billing are separate. Switching emails off leaves the subscription running and the card on file. To stop being charged, cancel the membership itself using the steps above.

The reverse is also true: cancelling a paid membership does not remove you from the free daily email. If you want both gone, do both.

The newsletter isn't arriving

Check spam, and in Gmail check the Promotions tab. Adding @ppc.land to your contacts or safe sender list in your mail client is the reliable fix, and worth doing at a corporate address where filtering tends to be aggressive. If nothing lands after that, write in and delivery can be checked from this end.

How do I use the ad-free RSS feed?

Sign in and open your account to find your personal feed URL, then paste it into your reader. Treat the URL as private: it is tied to your membership, and it stops working if the membership lapses. The public feed stays available to everyone.

Advertising on the site

Why do I have to watch an ad before reading an article?

PPC Land takes no money from the companies it covers, so it runs on two things: memberships and advertising. Non-members see a short rewarded ad before an article opens. It is what keeps the reporting free for everyone who does not pay.

Supporters never see it.

Who chooses the ads I see?

Nobody here. Inventory is sold programmatically, and advertisers get no say in what is published, no advance sight of articles, and no ability to have coverage changed. If an ad on the site is broken, deceptive, or otherwise ought not to be running, send the creative or a screenshot to info@ppc.land and it can be blocked.

I want to advertise or sponsor

Rates, formats, and audience data are on the Advertise page.

Editorial

How is AI used in the articles?

Generative AI tools assist in producing articles. Every piece is then reviewed, edited, checked against its sources, and expanded by Luis Rijo before it publishes. Sources are linked in the text so any claim can be traced back to the document it came from.

I'm named in an article and want to respond

Send a written statement to info@ppc.land. It gets published in full or in substance, appended to the article and dated, at no charge, and you do not have to prove a factual error first. The original article is not quietly rewritten around your reply. Both stay visible, so readers can judge for themselves.

I've spotted an error

Email the article URL and the correction to info@ppc.land. Corrections jump the queue ahead of other mail. Substantive fixes are noted at the foot of the article with the date and what changed, rather than made silently.

Can I send a press release, or set up an interview?

Press releases, embargoed material, and documents go to info@ppc.land and are read. Interviews, briefings, and podcast appearances are not possible: this is a one-person publication without the capacity for scheduled calls. Written material is always the faster route in.

No, and offers of any of the three receive no reply. No article has ever been sold, and no coverage decision has ever turned on a commercial relationship.

Can I republish an article?

Quote briefly with a link and there is no problem. For anything more, including reposting a full article internally or on another site, ask first at info@ppc.land.

Privacy and security

What happens to my data?

The privacy page sets out what is collected and why. Payment card details never touch this site; Stripe handles them.

I want to report a security vulnerability

PPC Land runs on Ghost, the open source publishing platform maintained by a non-profit foundation and its contributors. Issues in the platform itself should go to the people who can patch it:

  1. Read Ghost's responsible disclosure guidelines
  2. Send the details to security@ghost.org

Ghost does not operate a bug bounty, so no payment is available. If the problem is specific to this site rather than to Ghost, report it to info@ppc.land and please give it a reasonable window to be fixed before publishing anything.

Still stuck?

One address covers everything: info@ppc.land. Include the email address on your account and, where relevant, the article URL. It reaches a human, though not instantly.
