About PPC Land
PPC Land is an independent news publication covering programmatic advertising, ad tech, and the business of digital marketing. It has published continuously since 2016.
The beat is the infrastructure of online advertising: the demand- and supply-side platforms that buy and sell inventory, the identity and measurement systems underneath them, the privacy regulation reshaping them, and the antitrust and securities litigation that increasingly decides how they operate. Reporting starts from primary documents - court filings, regulatory decisions, earnings disclosures, platform release notes, IAB technical specifications - rather than from press releases.
Readers are publishers, advertisers, agency practitioners, ad tech vendors, industry advisors, investors, and regulatory professionals, concentrated in Europe and North America.
PPC Land is a top 100 tech publication in the Ghost ecosystem.
Who writes it
PPC Land is owned, edited, and written by Luis Rijo.
Luis founded the publication in Porto in 2016 and has run it since. He has spent more than a decade in digital advertising, working directly with the platforms PPC Land covers - DV360, The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, Meta, and Microsoft Ads among them. The publication is written from inside the industry rather than from a distance, which shapes what gets covered and how closely the technical detail is held. PPC Land is based in Frankfurt, Germany.
What PPC Land publishes
News — daily reporting on platform changes, regulatory action, litigation, and market developments across the advertising supply chain.
Explainers — long-form pieces that take a single term or mechanism in ad tech and set out how it actually works, who controls it, and why it matters.
Games — a daily word puzzle built from ad tech terminology.
Editorial standards
Sourcing. Articles link to their primary sources and name them in the text. Where a claim rests on a document - a filing, a ruling, a specification, a policy page - that document is linked so readers can check the reporting against it.
Right of reply. PPC Land reports from documents and from statements already on the public record, and does not routinely solicit comment ahead of publication. Any company, individual, or organisation named in an article may respond after it appears. Statements sent to info@ppc.land are published in full or in substance, appended to the article and dated, at no charge, and without a factual error having to be established first. A response does not quietly rewrite the original article - it is published alongside it, so readers can see both.
Use of AI. Articles are produced with the assistance of generative AI tools. Every piece is reviewed, edited, fact-checked against its sources, and expanded by Luis Rijo before publication.
Corrections. Errors are corrected rather than quietly removed. Substantive corrections are noted at the foot of the article with the date and what changed. To report an error, email info@ppc.land with the article URL and the correction; corrections are prioritised over other correspondence.
Bylines and dates. Every article carries a visible publication date and a named author. Articles updated after publication show a modified date.
Independence and funding
PPC Land takes no funding from the companies it covers. It is supported by two revenue streams, disclosed here in full:
Membership. A free tier delivers the daily newsletter by email. A paid Supporter tier — $10 per month or $100 per year — removes advertising from the site, provides a private ad-free RSS feed, and unlocks the Games section. Membership details.
Advertising. PPC Land carries display advertising, sold only programmatically. Articles are gated behind a short rewarded ad for non-members. Advertisers have no access to, influence over, or advance sight of editorial content. Advertising details.
PPC Land does not publish sponsored content, paid links, or paid placements of any kind. No article has ever been sold, and no coverage decision has ever been made on the basis of a commercial relationship.
