The fight for market share on the virtual assistant speakers is increasing among Amazon and Google. Both companies dropped the prices of the speakers in the holiday shopping season in the USA.
The smallest version of the speakers, Amazon Echo Dot and Google Home Mini, cost now 29 USD instead of the previous 50 dollars.
HomePod, from Apple, that will cost 399 USD, had the launch date delayed to this year and only for US, UK, and Australia. Apple said that needs “a little more time before it’s ready for customers.”
According to Reuters, Amazon and Google are selling the smallest version of the smart speakers probably at a loss. According to an analysis by ABI Research, the devices have a cost production of around 30 dollars + shipping.
