GroupM this week updated its 2018 and 2019 advertising investment forecasts in Ireland, and slightly downgraded 2018 growth expectations from -0.4% to -0.8%.
GroupM says 2019 growth is back into positive territory however with a forecast of 0.7%. Growth categories include Retail, Finance, and FMCG whilst Motors continues to fall and Household Services (Telcos) is forecast to be down slightly.
Across the various media types, TV, Digital, OOH, and Cinema will see growth. GroupM notes that the Cinema growth is off a poor year in 2018 mostly as a result of the very warm weather across the Summer of 2018.
Radio, Newspapers, and Magazines are all set to decline for the second year in succession as they are impacted by Digital and they struggle to migrate their audience to a fully Digital platform.
