HomePod launch date delayed to 2018 and only for US, UK and Australia
Expected to launch this month, Apple’s HomePod is being pushed to 2018. The company announced Friday: “We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple’s breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers,” an Apple spokesperson said on Friday. “We’ll start shipping in the US, UK, and Australia in early 2018.”
The unique selling propositions are the standout audio and the integration with HomeKit and Apple Music via Siri. It´s not clear how other apps will be integrated, in a moment where Apple has plans to bring together iOS and MacOs.
Apple has as main competitors Amazon (Alexa) and Google, already with offers in the global market, being Google the most intelligent and Amazon Echo the one with more integrations and cheaper.
Several marketing predictions for 2018 have voice as a new digital medium. “The physical world is becoming a voice-activated interface where consumers’ power is shifting from their fingertips to their voices,” says Kyra Barker, Digital Marketing Consultant, on Marketing Technology 2018.
