Pause Ad is the name for the new ad offering from Hulu. Announced today, Hulu’s new Pause Ad appears when a viewer pauses the content they’re watching. Hulu expects to introduce this new format in Q2 2019 for select content within the Hulu streaming library.
Hulu says the new Pause Ad provides a non-intrusive, viewer-initiated ad experience. According to Hulu, research so far has shown a positive response from viewers.
Hulu’s Pause Ad is supported by contextually messaging along with a background gradient to distinguish the ad from the content scene. Coca-Cola and Charmin were among the first beta advertising partners.
