YouTube updates its Homepage

Google this week started to change the YouTube Homepage. Google says the new look includes longer video titles and larger, richer thumbnails to give users clearer information about the videos. Google says that the video previews have now a higher resolution. Google removed some content shelves, but breaking news and music mixes are staying.

Part of the update is that users can select the next video to watch on the queue, only on the desktop. Users can also remove suggestions from channels they don’t want to watch by selecting “don’t recommend channel.”

The update will be available to everyone, on the web and YouTube apps.

Customization of Homepage and Up Next videos

Essam El-Dardiry, Senior Product Manager at YouTube, wrote that YouTube users will be also able to select their favorite topics and customize the Home feed with related videos, both on desktop and tablets. This is a feature already added earlier this year on the YouTube Android app, but coming soon for desktop and tablets.
