ADCOLOR Partners with Twitter for Custom Emoji Ahead of 10th Annual Award Show

ADCOLOR, the premier organization celebrating and promoting professionals of color and diversity in the creative industries, is proud to announce that they have partnered with Twitter to create a custom emoji celebrating the organization’s upcoming 10th Annual ADCOLOR Conference & Awards.

Twitter has created custom emojis for some of their biggest advertisers and major cultural events, and ADCOLOR joins the ranks of those organizations who have created their own custom emoji with the intention of adding more buzz to conversations already happening on social media.

“When people come together — through inclusion, through belonging — they can accomplish great things,” said Jeffrey Siminoff, Vice President, Inclusion & Diversity, Twitter. “We are proud to support ADCOLOR’s ten years of important work at this year’s Conference, and to help amplify its message of inclusion and diversity through the power of a Twitter custom emoji that shows that we do our best work not in spite of our differences but because of them.”

The emoji, which will be activated on September 15 and available until October 13, will appear in conjunction with the hashtag #ADCOLOR and will feature a celebratory fist bump.

“I’m really excited to see how people will participate in the conversations taking place and challenge each other to come up with solutions for issues regarding unconscious bias, gender equality and LGBTQ acceptance,” said Tiffany R. Warren, President & Founder, ADCOLOR.

The design, which was led by ADCOLOR’s creative agency, GSD&M, was chosen because they wanted an emoji that represented what ADCOLOR stood for, that would still be universally understood.

“Our goal with the custom emoji is for it to serve as a symbol to remind everyone of the importance of getting to know each other and the value of working together,” said Justin Adu, ADCOLOR Director of Social Media.

The fists represent teamwork and celebration between different types of people, and the reaction between them shows the positive change that happens when we work together.

The event will take place in Boca Raton, where the awards started, at The Boca Raton Resort & Club from September 18-21, 2016.
