Electronic Arts on June 15, 2026, launched EA Advertising, a platform that opens its console, mobile, and PC games to brands through dynamic in-game placements, native ad units in sports simulations, and a proprietary ad server built for its Frostbite engine.
The move brings one of the largest publishers in interactive entertainment into a market it had approached selectively for more than a decade. According to Electronic Arts, its games and services reached over 120 million players each month during fiscal year 2026 across console, mobile, and PC. That figure, drawn from internal company data and third-party platform login information, anchors the scale argument the company is making to advertisers and agencies.
EA Advertising arrives as a single commercial layer over a portfolio that includes globally licensed sports franchises. The company said the platform lets brands integrate directly into gameplay through real-time placements ranging from stadium signage to custom in-game content, with campaigns updated through ongoing optimization informed by player engagement.
What the platform contains
EA structured the launch around four components, each targeting a different buying model.
The first, brand partnerships and gameplay integrations, covers custom work built directly with brands and agencies for specific games and audiences. These bring advertisers into the experience through in-game challenges, reward-driven objectives, and branded content, with options for curated vanity items. The company said each integration is built around player behavior and cultural moments.
The second, ad units in 3D sports simulations, is the closest thing EA Advertising offers to standardized inventory. Advertisers can reach fans through native placements in select EA SPORTS titles, including digital ad boards, scoreboards, and brand broadcast overlays. Ads are served dynamically within the 3D environment, and impression measurement is aligned to Interactive Advertising Bureau standards. That alignment matters because gaming inventory has historically been evaluated against inconsistent yardsticks, a gap the IAB moved to close when it established a formal Gaming Measurement Framework in June 2025 covering display, video, audio, and custom formats. Intrinsic in-game placements of the kind EA now sells sit inside one of the five display categories that framework defined.
The third component covers targeting and measurement. Brands can connect with audiences across EA franchises using what the company described as advanced targeting powered by its new proprietary ad server and software development kit, custom built for the Frostbite game engine. EA said advertisers can collaborate with it in a privacy-safe way to improve targeting and gain campaign insights, and that it ensures ads are viewable, delivered to real audiences, and measured using industry-accredited standards in partnership with Integral Ad Science. That verification relationship connects EA to a measurement provider that has spent the last year expanding its remit across platforms; Integral Ad Science was itself acquired by private equity firm Novacap for 1.9 billion dollars in a deal announced in September 2025.
The fourth, the EA SPORTS Partner Program, sits above the ad units as a premium tier for a select group of official partners. It extends beyond media placements into live events such as EA SPORTS Presents Madden Bowl, franchise moments including Ratings Reveals, creator tools, social play experiences, and community programs. The program also reaches into athlete-driven initiatives through GEN / EA SPORTS, the company's next-generation athlete platform.
The engagement numbers
EA built its pitch on frequency rather than reach alone. Fans play the equivalent of 23,000 NFL seasons every day in Madden NFL, according to the company, and complete more than 1 billion matches each month in EA SPORTS FC. Those figures describe a level of repeat contact that few advertising environments can match, and they explain why brands have been willing to test placements inside EA titles before a formal platform existed.
The distinction the company drew was between showing up in gameplay and interrupting it. According to David Tinson, Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts, "Players come to EA's games and live experiences every day to play, watch, create and connect. That gives brands a meaningful opportunity to show up in ways that add value and respect the player experience, while maintaining authenticity in the worlds our teams are building. With EA Advertising, we're helping brands become part of those moments in ways that are relevant and built for players."
That framing responds to a documented barrier. Advertiser hesitation around gaming inventory has long centered on brand safety and player backlash, concerns that measurement standardization and non-disruptive formats have gradually eased. Industry research cited across the sector has found that gamers are markedly more receptive to advertising inside games than on mobile web, and that a majority of buyers with in-game experience now consider the environment brand-safe.
Brands already in the game
EA disclosed several partners already running integrations, with performance figures attached to each.
Lowe's integrated into EA SPORTS FC, Madden NFL, and College Football through Ultimate Team challenges and branded player content, driving more than 987,000 games played and more than 200,000 challenges completed, according to the company. Red Bull engaged EA SPORTS FC players through branded in-game objectives, team kits, and athlete ambassador collaborations, driving more than 128 million matches played and 1.2 million objectives completed.
Visa, described as a partner of EA SPORTS FC and EA SPORTS College Football, is working with the publisher on fan experiences built around exclusive access and in-game activations. Xfinity and Peacock activated through in-stadium and broadcast-style integrations, custom vanity kits, Ultimate Team Packs, and personalized rewards inside EA SPORTS FC 26. Mountain Dew ran a fully playable team experience, DEW University, in EA SPORTS College Football 26, complete with a custom stadium, mascot, and reward ecosystem.
A separate EA Advertising landing page also lists State Farm, which the company said appeared inside EA SPORTS FC 25 through custom kits worn in-game and a creator-led campaign across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch tied to the title's launch moment.
A structure built on tiers
The partner program is organized into three levels, according to EA's advertising materials. Premier is positioned for brands seeking deep, strategic collaboration across global markets. Experience targets established global brands seeking collaboration across multiple titles and gaming experiences. Franchise is designed for brands building partnerships around specific franchises and fan communities. The company listed EA SPORTS FC, Madden NFL, College Football, NHL, skate., and The Sims among the franchises available to partners, noting that each carries its own community and culture.
The tiered design signals that EA is selling relationships as much as impressions. The company said it works directly with brands and partners to create bespoke integrations spanning in-game, community, and real-world experiences, with expanded buying capabilities planned as the platform scales. That hands-on model stands in contrast to the fully programmatic pipes that intrinsic in-game specialists such as Anzu, Gadsme, and Frameplay have built to insert dynamic ads across many publishers at once. EA is instead monetizing its own inventory directly, keeping the audience relationship and the ad server inside the company.
Why a proprietary ad server matters
The technical center of the announcement is the ad server itself. By building delivery and targeting infrastructure custom fit to Frostbite, the engine underpinning its sports titles, EA controls how ads render inside the 3D environment and how impressions are counted. Native placements such as digital boards and scoreboards must appear as natural elements of a stadium rather than overlaid banners, which requires the ad system to understand the game world rather than sit on top of it.
That control carries commercial weight. A publisher operating its own server and SDK captures data signals that third-party networks cannot, and it can align measurement directly with accredited standards rather than reconciling across vendors. EA said its verification work with Integral Ad Science covers viewability, delivery to real audiences, and industry-accredited measurement, the same categories the IAB framework prioritized when it set baseline expectations for gaming impressions, viewability, unique reach, and frequency.
Context for the marketing community
For advertisers and media buyers, the launch adds a large, first-party sports inventory source to a channel that has been consolidating access rapidly. Console and PC sports games have been harder to buy against than mobile titles, and a direct route into Madden and EA SPORTS FC changes the calculus for brands chasing sports audiences that increasingly split their time between live broadcast and interactive play.
The timing sits inside a broader convergence between gaming and television advertising. As cloud gaming services extend to connected TV devices, the boundaries between the two environments have blurred; Nvidia brought its GeForce NOW service to Amazon Fire TV in February 2026, and Microsoft began testing an ad-supported free tier of Xbox Cloud Gaming in October 2025. Other publishers have opened their own titles to brands as interactive formats mature, with Reddit launching Interactive Ads that named Electronic Arts among early partners in November 2025. EA Advertising formalizes what had been a set of one-off brand deals into a standing commercial operation.
The publisher's reach also reframes the addressable audience question. With console, PC, and mobile players counted together, EA is offering a sports-first alternative to the mobile-heavy inventory that has dominated gaming ad spend, and it is doing so with named performance data from live campaigns rather than projections alone. Whether the hands-on, partner-led model scales to the volume advertisers expect from a programmatic channel is the question the expanded buying capabilities will answer. For now, the company has drawn a clear line: brands buy into EA's worlds on EA's terms, measured by accredited third parties, inside games that hundreds of millions of people already play every month.
