Sixteen terms. Four groups of four. Find the connection.

How to play

Sort the sixteen terms into four groups of four. Select four tiles, then check the group.

Each group sits at a tier from 1 to 4. Tier 1 is the gentlest, Tier 4 the meanest. You find out which tier you hit only once the group is right.

Get three of the four and you'll be told you're one off. You won't be told which one.

Four wrong guesses ends the grid and reveals the answers.

Several terms are placed to look like they belong somewhere else. That's the puzzle, not a bug.

New grid every morning, with the Digest.

People place you by your nouns

Nobody sets a test. The judgement happens in the first ten minutes of a call, when somebody drops a term in passing and watches whether your face changes. Follow it, and the conversation runs at the pace the other person wanted. Miss it, and what comes next is polite, thorough and quietly expensive: you have been reclassified as somebody who needs things explained. None of this is written down, which is why it survives reorganisations, new tooling and three rounds of automation. The quickest way to find out where you actually stand is to see how many of these you can place without pausing.
