Google Shopping: comparison service will compete with rivals for the right to appear on search

After being fined by the European Union with 2,42 billion euros, Google is changing their comparison shopping service in EEA countries where Shopping ads are available: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

The difference is that Google Shopping in these European countries will operate in the same manner, bidding alongside Comparison Shopping Services on equal terms.

Websites like KuantoKusta can now be integrated on the Google Comparison Shopping.

This June, commissioner Margrethe Vestager said Google had “abused its market dominance as a search engine by promoting its own comparison shopping service in its search results and demoting those of competitors.”
