Google Ads this month announced an update coming in June 2024 that will limit the functionality of suspended accounts. According to Google, this change aims to improve the user experience for managing suspended accounts.
Once the update goes into effect, advertisers with suspended accounts will still be able to access their accounts but will have restricted capabilities. These accounts will be granted access to the following actions:
- Billing Options: Make payments, download tax documents, and add new payment methods.
- Account Settings: Cancel the account and claim any available refunds.
- Appeals and Verification: Submit appeals contesting the suspension and complete advertiser verification, a process that confirms advertiser identity and business information.
- Security Settings: Update security settings within the Google Ads account.
- Navigation and Information Access: Navigate throughout the Google Ads account and access information and download reports associated with the account.
All other functionalities within suspended accounts will be disabled.
This update is solely for suspended accounts and will not impact the functionality of active Google Ads accounts. Advertisers with active accounts can continue to manage their campaigns and access all features as usual.
By limiting actions within suspended accounts, Google may streamline the process of managing these accounts for both advertisers and Google's internal teams. This could potentially encourage advertisers to focus on addressing the policy violations that led to the suspension and expedite the resolution process.
