NY Times today reported that John Giannandrea, Google’s chief of search and artificial intelligence, was hired by Apple. According to Search Engine Land, refering The Information, Google VP of Core Search Ben Gomes will be stepping up to lead all of search as vice president. Jeff Dean, who is currently overseeing the Google Brain team, will be in charge of artificial intelligence.
At Apple, John Giannandrea, now former Google’s chief of search and artificial intelligence, will run Apple’s machine learning and A.I. strategy, and will report directly to the CEO, Timothy D. Cook.
One of Giannandrea challenges should be how to improve Siri, maintaining the high standards of privacy, associated to the Apple products.
