HubSpot opens new office in Singapore investing in Southeast Asia

HubSpot last month has appointed Shahid Nizami as Managing Director of the Asia Pacific region. In his new role, Shahid will be responsible for HubSpot’s performance across Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and India, and will be based in HubSpot’s Singapore office, working closely with the HubSpot teams based in both Singapore and Sydney.

Before joining HubSpot, Shahid led the Account Management business for Google Cloud in APAC where he managed a team spread across six different locations. Before Google, he held several leadership positions at Oracle and has developed an understanding of the APAC market.

Shahid brings a wealth of knowledge to HubSpot, which will have a huge impact on how we help our customers and partners to grow better in APAC and beyond. HubSpot has also announced plans to create 100 new jobs in Singapore by 2021. HubSpot has opened an additional office space at Mapletree Anson in Singapore’s Central Business District, where the company’s APAC headquarters is currently located.

This new office space includes fitness space, meditation room, 60-person classroom style training and event space, and a culture room with a built-in fireplace.

According to HubSpot, along with these facilities, space will boast a number of other features that have become the standard for HubSpot offices globally: each of the desks are electronically adjustable and can transform from sitting to standing at the push of a button. There are also several themed conference rooms to allow employees the freedom to work from a space they are most productive in.

The decor features a mural of major cities across Asia Pacific, as well as large graphic wall prints of Singapore’s famous landmark, The Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay.

Jeetu Mahtani, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of International Operations at HubSpot, has been located in Singapore for the past three years, leading the team on the ground. As he returns to HubSpot’s headquarters in Boston, MA, he said, “I’m incredibly proud of what HubSpot has built in Singapore so far, and the impact we’ve had on the growth of small and medium-sized businesses across Asia Pacific. Southeast Asia internet users are booming

There are around 330M monthly active internet users by now in Southeast Asia, adding over 70 million new users since 2015, according to a study from Google and Temasek. Users in Southeast Asia spend an average of 3.6 hours per day on mobile internet, 1 more than in any other region in the world. By comparison, users in the USA spend an average of 2.0 hours per day on mobile internet.

Two months ago, OpenX opened a office in Singapore, while Google is investing in Australia and Southeast Asia submarine communications.
