New Heights Podcast soars into Top 10, Megyn Kelly Show debuts in Edison Podcast Rankings
Podcast listening continues to grow in the United States, with the latest Edison Research rankings showing some familiar faces at the top and some surprising newcomers. For the fourth quarter of 2023, The Joe Rogan Experience remains the most popular podcast, followed by Crime Junkie and The Daily.
However, the biggest mover in the top 10 is New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, which jumped an impressive 61 spots to land at number six. The sports podcast, hosted by the Kelce brothers who play for the Kansas City Chiefs, saw its listenership surge after Taylor Swift appeared on an episode in September. This "Taylor Swift Effect" helped the show attract a more female audience, with 50% of its listeners now being women.
Two other podcasts are making their debut in the top 50: The Megyn Kelly Show and The Herd with Colin Cowherd. Kelly's podcast, which launched in 2022, has benefited from her increased visibility in recent months, including an interview with former President Donald Trump. Cowherd's sports podcast, meanwhile, has been generating buzz thanks to his company, The Volume, being courted by potential buyers.
The Edison Podcast Metrics rankings are based on a survey of 5,356 weekly podcast listeners age 13 and older. The survey is conducted quarterly, and the results are used to track the popularity of podcasts in the United States.
The top 10 podcasts remain relatively stable, with only a few changes in order.
Sports podcasts are doing well, with both "New Heights" and "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" making significant gains.
News and current events podcasts are also popular, with "The Daily" remaining in the top three.
True crime podcasts continue to be a major draw, with "Crime Junkie" holding onto the number two spot.
