NYC to host historic Google search event amid AI search developments
Google's search team brings a major SEO and web development event to NYC, marking its first presence in the city.
Thirty-four days ahead of the scheduled date, the Google Search team announced the arrival of Search Central Live to New York City on March 20, 2025. According to John Mueller from the Search relations team at Google Zurich, this marks the first time the flagship search event will take place in what he described as "the city that never sleeps."
The announcement, made on February 13, 2025, indicates significant expansion of the event series that started as Webmaster Conference and was later rebranded as Search Central Live. The series has established itself as a key platform for discussions between Google's search team and the broader web development community.
According to the event registration page, the New York edition will feature six key speakers from Google's search and news teams, including John Mueller, Search relations team lead; Danny Sullivan, Search Liaison; Daniel Waisberg, Search Advocate; Miki King, Managing Director for News Partnerships; Natalia Bergamaschi, Partnership Lead; and Vani Assadurian, Programs Manager for News in North America.
The event agenda focuses on four main areas: current priorities for the Google Search team, search functionality and common SEO misconceptions, updates to Search Console and its applications, and developments in search partnerships and Google News.
The registration process follows a selective approach. According to the announcement, interested participants must submit applications by February 26, 2025. The organizing team will review submissions and send confirmations to accepted attendees on March 3, 2025. The confirmation email serves as the required entry credential for the event.
Search Central Live maintains a no-cost policy for all its events globally. According to the event FAQ documentation, while attendance is free, participants must arrange and cover their own transportation and accommodation expenses. The organizing team does not provide assistance with international travel arrangements or visas.
