Google and Temasek released a study (e-Conomy SEA Spotlight 2017) in December 2017 that concludes Southeast Asia is the fastest growing internet region in the world. Southeast Asia countries are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
According to the study, there are around 330M monthly active internet users by now, adding over 70 million new users since 2015. Users in Southeast Asia spend an average of 3.6 hours per day on mobile internet, 1 more than in any other region in the world. By comparison, users in the USA spend an average 2.0 hours per day on mobile internet.
Last year, Google launched a Market Finder tool, where publishers and businesses can explore opportunities for internationalization.
