Marvel Studios last month unveiled a thrilling trailer for its upcoming original series, 'Echo', which premiered yesterday, exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu. The series follows Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), a deaf Native American woman with superhuman abilities who is forced to confront her past and rediscover her Native American heritage when she returns to her hometown.

In the trailer, we see Maya grappling with her identity and her role in Kingpin's criminal empire. She is haunted by her past mistakes and is determined to find her own path. As she delves deeper into her Native American roots, she learns about the importance of family and community.

The series is directed by Sydney Freeland ('Navajo') and Catriona McKenzie ('Gunaikurnai') and executive produced by Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D'Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Richie Palmer, Jason Gavin ('Blackfeet'), Marion Dayre, and Sydney Freeland.

'Echo' is the first series under Marvel Studios' new 'Marvel Spotlight' banner, which focuses on more grounded, character-driven stories that are rooted in Marvel Comics' 85-year publishing history. The new banner allows the series to focus on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity, meaning that viewers don't need to have seen other Marvel series to understand the plot.
