This Saturday, Filip Struhárik, Journalist at Denník N, reported on Medium the biggest drop in Facebook organic reach we have ever seen. Facebook is moving all organic posts by pages, from newsfeed to Explore Feed. It is a Facebook experience in Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Bolivia, Guatemala and Cambodia, said Adam Mosseri, Head of News Feed at Facebook.
Facebook said yesterday that “currently have no plans to roll this test out further”, and revealed the purpose of the test: “having one dedicated space for people to keep up with their friends and family, and another separate space, called Explore, with posts from pages.”
Stuart McDonald, founder of Travelfish, just published his Facebook experience as user in Indonesia. On News Feed: “I can scroll forever and never see an unpaid/promoted item from a page I’ve liked. Nada. The only way I see them is in this “Pages stories you may like” insert. Paid/promoted posts appear as normal.”
And he points out: “so as far as I can see, as a user in Indonesia, one of Facebook’s largest markets, unpaid items from pages I have liked have not been relegated to the Explore tab but instead have been entirely removed from Facebook’s feeds.”
