LG Ad Solutions and Magnite today extended their partnership for three years, keeping Magnite's SpringServe as LG's exclusive CTV video ad server and making LG Home Screen inventory available for agentic buying through Magnite's Seller Agent, with independent agency H/L running the first campaign for the Northern California Toyota Dealers Association.
In Short
LG, which makes smart TVs, sells ads on the menu screen people see when they switch the TV on, and it has now agreed to let software agents buy those ads through Magnite's systems. That matters to agencies and brands because a campaign on that screen can now go from plan to launch through one automated path instead of several manual steps. The first buyer is an agency working for Toyota dealers in Northern California, and the deal also keeps Magnite as LG's main ad technology supplier for another three years.
What the two companies agreed
The announcement, dated October 14, 2026 and issued from New York, covers three separate commitments. First, according to Magnite and LG Ad Solutions, the partnership has been extended by three years. Second, Magnite's SpringServe continues as LG Ad Solutions' exclusive CTV video ad server. Third, Magnite remains a preferred programmatic partner across North America, APAC and EMEA.
The word "preferred" carries weight. Exclusivity applies to ad serving for CTV video, not to programmatic selling as a whole, so LG Ad Solutions keeps the ability to work with other supply partners. That distinction has been visible throughout 2026: LG's Home Screen in Europe and much of Asia is sold through a separate exclusive arrangement with another company, a point returned to below.
The new element is agentic. LG Ad Solutions is making its Home Screen inventory available for agentic buying through Magnite's Seller Agent, according to the companies, "building on the companies' existing programmatic integration." The Home Screen is the interface an LG Smart TV shows before a viewer picks an app or a channel, and the placements there are a form of home screen advertising that sits outside the ad breaks of any streaming service.
No financial terms were disclosed. The release does not state the value of the extension, the revenue share between the companies, or any volume commitments.
The first campaign
Independent agency H/L is the first buyer to activate LG Home Screen inventory using Magnite's agentic buying capabilities, according to the announcement. H/L ran the campaign on behalf of the Northern California Toyota Dealers Association, timed to the fall football season. The companies say the campaign "moves from media planning to execution through a single path, eliminating the manual steps typically required to launch a high-impact streaming campaign."
That is a process claim, not a performance claim. The release contains no reach figures, no completion rates, no setup time comparison and no sales or visit data from the Toyota campaign. Budget and flight dates were not disclosed either.
Jeremy Cobb, VP at H/L, framed the benefit in operational terms. "As the first agency to activate home screen agentic ads through Magnite and LG Ad Solutions, we can move faster, reduce technical friction and create real audience connections on the largest screen in the home," Cobb said. "Our clients get direct access to premium home screen inventory through the same stack as everything else we manage. It's simpler, faster and built for performance."
H/L has made a "first" claim on this kind of inventory before. In April 2026, H/L was described as the first agency to buy smart TV home screen ads programmatically through Nexxen DSP, using Nexxen TV Home Screen units bought through private marketplace deals. That earlier buy was not tied to LG inventory. The October claim is narrower: first agency to activate Home Screen ads agentically through Magnite and LG Ad Solutions specifically. Both statements can be true at once, but they describe different supply chains, and the qualifier matters.
What the executives said
Mike Laband, now Group SVP, Revenue at Magnite, described the deal as a replacement of manual work. "Our expanded relationship with LG Ad Solutions reflects a shared desire to innovate at the speed of the market," Laband said. "By deploying our agentic technology for LG Home Screen inventory, we're replacing manual execution with automated, high-precision workflows. Combined with LG Ad Solutions' expanded use of ClearLine, we are creating simpler, more automated ways for buyers to access and activate LG inventory."
Kelly McMahon, EVP, Global Operations at LG Ad Solutions, focused on the screen itself. "The Home Screen is where the streaming experience begins and where discovery can shape what viewers choose next," McMahon said. "Expanding our partnership with Magnite makes it easier for advertisers to buy the Home Screen through new, more automated ways of working. As buying evolves, we want to make it easier for advertisers to take advantage of everything the Home Screen can offer."
Both executives held different titles when the companies last renewed. In December 2024, LG Ad Solutions renewed its global partnership with Magnite, and at that time McMahon was SVP of Global Operations and Laband was SVP of Platform Revenue.
The plumbing: SpringServe, ClearLine and the Seller Agent
The release describes the expanded partnership as strengthening "the connection between LG Ad Solutions' ad serving and programmatic buying infrastructure through Magnite's SpringServe and ClearLine platforms." According to the companies, bringing those capabilities together "creates a more direct and efficient path between LG Ad Solutions' premium CTV inventory and advertisers."
Each piece has a distinct job. SpringServe is the adserver that decides which video ad runs in a given CTV slot. In the December 2024 renewal, Magnite's SpringServe technology was described as integrated into LG's webOS ecosystem, the operating system on LG Smart TVs. ClearLine is Magnite's buyer-facing tool. When Magnite unified curation and activation within ClearLine on October 1, 2025, the platform was presented as a single interface for finding, packaging and buying inventory, running on the same infrastructure as SpringServe, with LG Ad Solutions among the closed beta participants alongside Disney Advertising, Paramount, Roku, Samsung and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The Seller Agent is the newest layer. On January 6, 2026, Magnite built a seller agent into SpringServe after a first test in December 2025 in which Scope3 acted as the buyer agent. In that model, a buyer-side agent turns a campaign brief into structured intent, and the seller agent matches that intent to inventory and audiences before both sides agree to place the campaign. LG Ad Solutions was named in January as a publisher testing the seller agent. Today's announcement moves LG from tester to live seller, at least for Home Screen placements.
Which buyer-side agent H/L used is not stated. The release refers to "Magnite's agentic buying capabilities" without naming the protocol, the buyer agent, or whether H/L connected its own system or used Magnite's tooling. Magnite has offered both routes: when Magnite Orchestration arrived on June 11, 2026, it combined a Seller Agent for publishers with a Buyer Agent that could generate media plans from an RFP, and open integrations for buyers with their own agentic AI systems.
The creative agent
The release also notes that LG Ad Solutions has been "an early adopter of Magnite's GenAI capabilities, announcing at NewFronts its use of Magnite's creative agent to generate Home Screen and video ad units." LG presented at the IAB NewFronts held March 23 to 26, 2026. No output volumes, cost data or approval rates for the generated units were included.
Magnite's generative tools trace back to its acquisition of streamr.ai on September 9, 2025. In December 2025, Magnite used streamr.ai to place AI-generated ads on LG and TCL home screens for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, delivered through ClearLine.
Why the Home Screen draws this attention
TV makers have spent the past two years turning the menu screen into sellable inventory, and the numbers LG publishes explain the interest. In November 2025, LG Ad Solutions reported more than 60% year-over-year growth in general-market advertisers using Home Screen placements. The company said at the time that about 97% of LG Smart TV users start on the Home Screen, averaging three visits per day. Those are LG's own figures, drawn from its own research, and they have not been independently audited.
Scale has grown too. The December 2024 renewal cited about 165 million LG Smart TVs worldwide and roughly 40 million in the US. By December 2025, LG Ad Solutions was citing a network of 200 million LG Smart TVs worldwide, still with 40 million in the US.
Distribution is widening in parallel. On October 7, 2026, one week before this announcement, LG Ad Solutions put Home Screen ad slots on Best Buy's ad network, with Magnite handling the programmatic transactions and Best Buy's closed-loop measurement attached. That deal and today's announcement point the same way: one Home Screen, sold through more doors, with Magnite behind most of them.
Samsung has taken a comparable route. In June 2026, Samsung opened its Smart TV home screens to programmatic buying through The Trade Desk and DV360, with Magnite's SpringServe powering the inventory and global availability starting in the third quarter of 2026. The home screens of two of the largest TV manufacturers therefore run, at least in part, on the same sell-side ad server. For Magnite, which describes itself as the largest independent sell-side advertising company, that concentration is the commercial case for the extension.
The European question
The geography in the release deserves a closer look. Magnite is named a preferred programmatic partner across North America, APAC and EMEA. Yet in April 2026, LG and Teads renewed CTV HomeScreen exclusivity across 17 European markets, including France, Germany, Italy and Poland, and nine APAC markets, including India, Japan and Singapore. Teads was described then as the sole point of access for that inventory in all listed territories.
The release does not say where the agentic Home Screen offer applies. The only campaign named ran in Northern California. Read together, the two agreements suggest the agentic Home Screen access is, for now, most relevant to the US and to markets outside the Teads list, while Magnite's EMEA and APAC role covers video ad serving and other programmatic supply. That reading is an inference. Neither company addressed the overlap in the announcement.
The agentic buying record so far
Magnite has been building a public record of agentic campaigns through 2026. On April 27, 2026, Magnite expanded its AI buyer agent and SpringServe mediation with Disney and MiQ, with Kepler and MiQ testing the buyer agent on Disney Advertising inventory. In September, Magnite's first EMEA agentic campaign with Amnet France produced a claimed 70% reduction in campaign setup time for an unnamed automotive manufacturer. That figure came from Magnite and was not independently verified.
The H/L campaign is also automotive, but no comparable metric was released. Without a setup time figure, a cost comparison or an outcome measure, the Toyota campaign stands as a proof that the path works rather than evidence of how well it works.
How large is the market these campaigns feed? Smaller than the attention suggests. In July 2026, Magnite CEO Michael Barrett put optimistic 2027 agentic ad spend forecasts near $600 million to $700 million, a figure he called modest against the wider programmatic market, and described protocol-based buying as being in "the discovery phase." The same coverage cited a DataBeat report from June 22, 2026 that found conventional programmatic buyers held a 13.4% CPM advantage over AI agents in the comparison it examined.
Why it matters for marketers
For agencies, the practical shift is in workflow. Home Screen units are not ordinary pre-roll slots. They often carry bespoke creative specifications and have historically been sold through direct deals or a small set of authorized partners. If an agent can carry a plan through to activation, that removes trafficking steps that have kept Home Screen buys separate from the rest of a CTV plan. Cobb's line about buying the Home Screen "through the same stack as everything else we manage" describes exactly that consolidation.
For publishers and other TV makers, the deal shows how agentic access is being bundled into existing ad tech contracts rather than sold as a standalone product. LG did not adopt a new vendor to offer agentic buying. It extended an incumbent's exclusive ad serving role and gained the agentic layer as part of the package. That raises the switching cost of moving away from SpringServe over the next three years.
For buyers, several questions remain open after today's release. What pricing applies to Home Screen inventory bought by an agent compared with a direct deal? Which first-party data from LG, such as automatic content recognition signals, can the Seller Agent expose to a buying agent? Can buyers using DSPs outside Magnite's tooling reach the same agentic path? And how will results be measured when the sale itself was negotiated by software? The announcement answers none of them.
