Snap last week integrated new Scan partners into Snapchat app enabling users to identify plant, trees, and dog breeds. When users “press and hold” on the camera screen, lenses are unlocked based on what they see in front of them.

Snap says PlantSnap can identify 90% of all known plants and trees, and Dog Scanner is recognising almost 400 dog breeds.

According to Snap, future Scans will include Yuka, powering a Nutrition Scanner, that provides a rating on the quality of ingredients in many packaged foods by scanning an item’s label.

Snap identifies itself as a camera company. In the last update, Snap also introduced Voice Scan, powered by SoundHound, which offers Lens results based on voice commands.
