Effective January 1, 2024, online retailers in Utah will be required to display law labels on stuffed or filled products, such as pillows, comforters, and mattresses. This new law is designed to give consumers more information about the contents of these products and to protect them from misleading or false advertising.
Under the new law, Walmart online retailers must upload an image of the specific product law label or link it in their product description. This requirement applies to all stuffed or filled products that are sold online, regardless of whether they were manufactured in Utah.
The law labels must be easily accessible to consumers for review before purchase. They must also include the following information:
- The type of filling material used in the product
- The percentage of each type of filling material
- A certification statement that the manufacturer has complied with all applicable laws
The new law is part of Utah's ongoing effort to protect consumers from deceptive practices.
