TVision, Nielsen and Google now measure co-viewing in the same living rooms through three incompatible mechanisms: a computer-vision panel, wrist-worn wearables, and census-level modelled surveys. Nielsen deployed seven methodology changes to its national currency service on August 31, 2026, co-viewing capture among them. A fourth signal type, generated by the platform itself and describing what a viewer did rather than whether a viewer was present, does not slot cleanly into any of those frameworks.
Attention research gives the tension a sharper edge.
