Alexa Internet was founded 25 years ago, and Amazon says it was a “difficult decision” to retire this service. Amazon bought Alexa Internet in 1999, for $250 million in stock.
Alexa owns one of the most popular internet rankings, the Alexa Traffic Rank, and that ranking is being shut down. Alexa Traffic Rank can be used to monitor the popularity trends, and insights for specific websites.
Alternatives to Alexa
Two alternatives to Alexa are Similarweb and Cloudflare Radar. Similarweb offers insights for each website with more than 50,000 visits per month. Cloudflare Radar offers stats per country on the popular and trending websites.
