ProSieben’s streaming platform Joyn has now 3.8 million monthly total active users, the company announced on the financial results presentation of the last quarter. ProSiebenSat.1 also disclosed that Joyn had over 2.4 million installed apps.
Joyn is a streaming platform on web and in app, available in Germany. Joyn was launched on June 18, 2019, offering over 50 live TV channels (including public TV channels) and on-demand content. The app is free, supported by ads. Joyn is the new name for 7TV, the predecessor, founded in 2017.
“We continue to focus single-mindedly on the execution of our strategy and are reaching important milestones. Our platform Joyn has been launched successfully in June with over 3.8 million monthly users across all devices: four times its predecessor 7TV. We thereby managed to more than compensate for the decline in linear reach in the second quarter. These investments are now reflected in adjusted EBITDA – a planned and conscious decision to invest in the future of ProSiebenSat.1. We are convinced this will pay off and we are on the right track focusing on local and digital,” said Max Conze, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE.
Joyn has almost all private channels (in SD) and public channels (in HD), including ProSieben, ProSieben MAXX, Sat.1, Cable One, Sixx, DMAX, TLC, Comedy Central, Sport 1, Eurosport, MTV, ARD, ZDF. RTL channels (Vox and Nitro) however, are not available. RTL has its own streaming platform – Waipu – that costs 4.99€ per month.
Zattoo, Sky Ticket, Waipu, Joyn, MagentaTV, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV, maxdome (now incorporated in Joyn), are all competing for the streaming in Germany.
