Big Happy, a New York adtech company that builds cinematic creative for mobile and outdoor screens, today said it has joined the Walmart Connect Partner Network. According to Big Happy, qualifying suppliers and agencies with a Walmart DSP seat can now run its 3D, CGI and motion-driven creative inside their existing self-service mobile campaigns.
In Short
Big Happy, a company that makes animated three-dimensional ads for phones, has joined the partner network of Walmart's advertising business. The change matters to brands and agencies that already buy mobile ads through Walmart's ad-buying system, because they can now order these animated ads without leaving it. What changes is the ordering route; prices, minimum budgets and any comment from Walmart did not accompany the news.
What Big Happy said today
The news arrives as a post on Big Happy's own website. The company says it has joined the Walmart Connect Partner Network and, as a partner, is bringing cinematic 3D, CGI and motion-driven storytelling creative to mobile self-service campaigns activated through the Walmart DSP. The post opens with an attention argument: mobile ads, it says, get about two seconds to make an impression.
The mechanism, according to Big Happy, runs through custom mobile deal IDs surfaced natively inside the Walmart DSP. Suppliers and non-endemic brands, meaning advertisers whose products are not sold at Walmart, can then activate the company's full portfolio of mobile formats "right inside their existing self-service campaigns." The offering is open to "qualifying suppliers, non-endemic brands, and agencies with a Walmart DSP seat," the post says, without defining what qualifies.
Turnaround figures follow. Depending on scope and approval, Big Happy says, custom mobile creative arrives in under 72 hours, while 3D assets for digital out-of-home (DOOH) screens take under 14 days. The post lists evergreen and SKU-specific campaigns, product innovation debuts, seasonal and tentpole moments, holiday promotions and geo-specific initiatives as the occasions such a schedule is meant to serve.
Screens outside the home feature in the pitch as well. Big Happy's DOOH capabilities are available, in its words, "through the national seat in The Trade Desk (TTD)," so that audiences exposed to outdoor creative "can be retargeted with mobile creative in the Walmart DSP."
Jonathan Frohlinger, Big Happy's chief executive, is quoted in the post: "Mobile ads have seconds to make an impression, and Big Happy's CGI technology makes that impression last." Bringing the CGI capability into the Walmart DSP, he said, gives suppliers and non-endemic brands a way to "turn attention into purchase intent with Walmart customers."
On measurement the post is brief. It pairs the creative with Walmart's first-party audiences and closed-loop measurement, and says advertisers can connect brand storytelling, audience precision and "measurable commerce outcomes" within one campaign workflow. It contains no results, no pricing and no statement from Walmart Connect.
Who Big Happy is
According to its website, Big Happy was created by "a group of media buyers and mobile ad tech champions," and its stated vision is to transform mobile and DOOH advertising. The company lists a New York address and describes its aim as a mobile advertising ecosystem that serves brands, publishers and consumers.
PPC Land has followed two earlier moves. On August 25, 2026, Big Happy became the first Veridooh partner to sell US DOOH on a verified CPM, letting buyers pay only for plays that Veridooh validates or stay on standard CPM. The same coverage noted that Big Happy's claims of 14 times higher brand recall and four times more product interest came without a published methodology, sample size or baseline. Earlier, on June 17, 2026, Cint named Big Happy among the beta partners for combined brand lift and sales lift measurement inside Lucid Measurement.
How the pieces are meant to connect
Deals inside the DSP
A deal ID is the token by which a buyer addresses a negotiated package of inventory inside a buying platform. Walmart Connect already uses the idea for its own supply. Connect Select, the curated connected-TV marketplace opened inside the Walmart DSP on April 27, surfaces deals through Inventory Controls and Deal Desk. Big Happy's post does not say whether its mobile deal IDs are reached through those same screens, which supply-side platform or publisher inventory sits behind them, or whether the creative travels with the deal or is loaded separately.
The out-of-home loop
The retargeting claim spans two buying platforms. Outdoor creative is bought through Big Happy's seat in The Trade Desk; the follow-up mobile creative runs in the Walmart DSP. Recognising the same people in both requires a matching method, and the post describes none - no identifiers, no look-back window, no minimum audience size. The starting point is soft as well. Out-of-home is a broadcast medium, and exposure attribution rests on mobile location signals and modelled audience panels rather than device-level delivery, so the exposed audience is itself partly modelled before any retargeting begins.
The two platforms share a history. Walmart Connect's July 2021 relaunch included first-party shopper data sold to DSPs including The Trade Desk, and in August 2026 The Trade Desk said its Walmart partnership had been renewed, without exclusivity.
Walmart Connect's year of opening outward
Big Happy's step follows a run of moves by Walmart Connect to push shopper data and inventory beyond its own properties. Connect Select brought Magnite, PubMatic, FreeWheel and Index Exchange in as supply-side partners, and Walmart's own first-party figures put the median share of new-to-brand buyers in offsite connected-TV campaigns at 44 percent in fiscal 2026. On May 28, Walmart audiences reached Yahoo DSP through Magnite; on June 11, they reached Google's Display & Video 360 for YouTube campaigns. On June 23, Walmart agreed to acquire Vibe.co, a self-serve connected-TV platform with more than 10,000 advertisers.
The growth behind that expansion is large. Walmart reported on August 20 that Walmart Connect grew 43 percent excluding VIZIO in the fiscal second quarter ended July 31, while global advertising grew 38 percent. For the full fiscal year 2026, the advertising business came close to $6.4 billion, up 46 percent.
Big Happy occupies a different slot from Yahoo DSP or Display & Video 360. It supplies neither audiences nor inventory. It supplies finished creative, produced outside Walmart's own tooling. That tooling exists: Walmart Connect's Automated Creative Generator cut median creative production time by 80 percent in beta testing between August 1 and October 31, 2025, by Walmart's first-party measure. The generator is AI-driven; Big Happy's pitch rests on custom 3D production.
The Partner Network itself dates from December 2023, when Walmart Connect published a directory of third-party partners offering different services, fee structures and business models, filterable by solution type, service model and region. Big Happy's post does not say whether it appears in that directory or how partners are admitted.
What the evidence says about 3D creative
Public evidence on 3D formats comes mostly from outdoor screens, not phones. On May 19, 2026, Vistar Media published research with Omnicom Media and JCDecaux, drawing on 7,513 respondents in the Netherlands, that found 3D digital out-of-home creative produced a 10 percent uplift in top-of-mind awareness and a 44 percent uplift in aided ad recall. The often-quoted 67 percent figure is a relative comparison rather than an absolute gain of 67 points.
That study concerned out-of-home exposure. None of the material behind today's announcement contains a result for CGI mobile creative inside the Walmart DSP, and Big Happy's post cites no performance figures of its own.
Why the announcement matters to marketers
The proposition is aimed at brands outside Walmart's shelves, and that is where measurement gets harder. Walmart's chief financial officer, John David Rainey, cited non-endemic advertising as part of the rationale for buying VIZIO on an earnings call in the spring, so the segment matters to the retailer's growth plans. Yet a retail media executive quoted in July argued that return on ad spend and incremental sales cannot be calculated for products the retailer does not sell. Big Happy's post promises "measurable commerce outcomes" without saying which outcomes a non-endemic brand would see. Whether closed-loop reporting can close on a product that Walmart does not stock is the question the post leaves open.
Creative is the other thread. Most of Walmart Connect's recent moves, listed above, concern data and inventory access; Big Happy's concerns the creative itself. In a February 2026 survey of 111 US agency and marketing professionals, 69.4 percent named social media as the channel offering the clearest view of creative performance, against 2.7 percent for DOOH. A vendor selling out-of-home and mobile creative as a linked loop is therefore working partly in a channel where few respondents reported clear visibility into what the creative achieves.
Market structure adds a final layer. Two figures from the same reporting season frame the backdrop. Walmart Connect grew 43 percent excluding VIZIO, while The Trade Desk shares fell 24 percent after third-quarter guidance pointed to a 12 percent revenue decline. Big Happy now sits on both sides of that divide, with outdoor buying in an independent DSP and mobile activation in a retailer's own.
What remains unstated
Several items that would decide the practical value of the offering are missing from the post. Pricing is absent: no CPM, no creative fee, no minimum spend. The threshold for a "qualifying" supplier or agency is undefined, as is the approval step that the turnaround times depend on. The post names no markets. It gives no matching method for the out-of-home retargeting loop, no list of measurement metrics beyond the phrase "closed-loop," and no indication of which inventory the deal IDs cover. And Walmart Connect has made no statement in the material reviewed, so the retailer's view of the partner relationship is unknown.
