Google this week launched a free audience migration tool for Google Analytics 4, where advertisers can recreate Universal Analytics audiences in Google Analytics 4.
The tool is an add-on in Google Workspace Marketplace called GA4 Migrator for Google Analytics Google Sheets, and enables Google Analytics account administrators to migrate audience definitions, as well as users and their permissions from Universal Analytics to a GA4 property using Google Sheets.
According to Google, when audiences use dimensions and/or metrics that differ between Universal Analytics and GA4, advertisers can edit the audience definitions in the spreadsheet to use the relevant GA4 dimensions and metrics.
And for each audience, the spreadsheet includes information about whether the audience is available for recreation; if it isn’t, the spreadsheet has information about why.
Google Analytics 4 is the new version of Google Analytics, launched in 2020. On July 1, next year, the standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits.
