Reddit said on August 11, 2026 that it has completed Ads API integrations with Skai and Innovid, making campaign activation and measurement on the platform available inside two more third-party buying systems. The announcement, published on the Reddit for Business blog by product marketing manager Wen Si, contains no performance figures, no pricing detail, and no rollout schedule. It is a distribution move, and its significance sits in what it says about where Reddit expects the next tranche of advertiser budget to be committed.

The core claim is narrow. According to Reddit, advertisers can now buy, manage, and measure Reddit campaigns through Skai and Innovid using the Reddit Ads API, rather than switching into Reddit Ads Manager as a separate step. The company framed the change as removing operational overhead for teams that already run multi-channel media through those tools.

"Strong industry partnerships are fundamental to the future of advertising on Reddit. Expanding our relationships with leaders like Skai and Innovid gives advertisers maximum choice and makes integrating Reddit into cross-channel strategies more seamless," said Stephen Blake, Global Head of Third Party Partnerships at Reddit, in the announcement.

Reddit listed four stated objectives for the wider partner programme: making the platform easier to access within existing marketing workflows, reducing operational friction for teams running campaigns across channels, giving advertisers flexibility in how they activate and scale, and continuing to invest in partnerships oriented toward long-term advertiser success. The company described third-party Ads API partnerships as a component of making Reddit more accessible and operationally scalable for advertisers and agencies.

What an Ads API integration actually changes

The distinction between an Ads API integration and a lighter data connection matters operationally, and it is frequently blurred in partnership announcements.

A reporting-only connection pulls spend and performance data out of a platform and into a dashboard. An Ads API integration works in both directions: campaigns can be created, budgets set, creative uploaded, bids adjusted, and results retrieved without leaving the third-party interface. For a media team managing dozens of accounts, that difference determines whether Reddit sits inside the daily optimisation loop or outside it as a manual exception.

The practical consequence is administrative rather than algorithmic. Reddit's auction, targeting inventory, and bidding logic are unchanged by the announcement. What changes is who touches the buttons and where. Trafficking teams working in Skai or Innovid can build Reddit line items alongside line items for other publishers, apply the same naming conventions, and pull the same reports. Campaign QA, creative validation, and budget pacing rules already configured for other channels extend to Reddit without a parallel process.

That kind of workflow parity has been the recurring theme of Reddit's partner strategy for two years. Sprinklr became Reddit's first advertising API partner in June 2024, combining Data API and Advertising API access in a single enterprise interface. Two months later, Reddit launched a Custom Audience API with mParticle, Tealium, and ActionIQ as customer data platform partners, enabling pixel-free retargeting and lookalike prospecting from advertiser-owned lists.

The most consequential prior step was the full Smartly integration that reached general availability on June 30, 2025, which brought creative automation, dynamic product ad support, predictive budget allocation, and unified reporting into one workflow. Smartly manages more than $6 billion in advertising spend globally. A month before that, Reddit had taken Dynamic Product Ads to general availability with internal analysis showing double the return on ad spend against standard conversion campaigns.

Innovid was already carrying Reddit

For Innovid, the August 11 announcement is an extension rather than a first contact.

The company added Reddit support to its Social Ads Manager on December 17, 2025, alongside Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snap, and TikTok, in a release that also introduced Meta's Opportunity Score. Four months later, on April 21, 2026, Innovid took Hypermode to general availability, a high-precision execution layer supporting Meta, Pinterest, Reddit, Snapchat, and TikTok. Early adopters of Hypermode reported campaign setup time reductions of up to 80%, speed to market improvements of up to six times, and manual workload reductions of up to ten times.

Innovid operates as part of Mediaocean following a $500 million acquisition in late 2024 and a subsequent merger with Flashtalking. Its measurement business has been extending in parallel. In June 2025 the company launched pixel-free purchase attribution inside InnovidXP with Affinity Solutions, drawing on 18 billion annual card transactions from more than 95 million consumers. That attribution stack was widened in April 2026 to include publisher, app, and property level reporting. The company also expanded its LinkedIn integration on July 21, 2025 to activate LinkedIn Connected TV Ads inside Social Ads Manager, and released retail media tooling on July 8, 2025 covering onsite and offsite execution.

Placed against that history, what the Ads API partnership adds for Innovid customers is depth rather than presence. Reddit's announcement does not specify which objectives, ad formats, or measurement endpoints are covered, nor whether the integration supersedes the December 2025 Social Ads Manager connection or sits alongside it.

Skai brings a commerce-weighted book of business

Skai arrives from a different direction. The company, operating as Kenshoo Skai, serves more than 8,000 brands and agencies including PepsiCo, Sanofi, and Estée Lauder, and integrates with more than 300 publishers and retail media networks.

Its recent product direction has been aggressively agentic. At ShopAble 2026 in San Francisco on May 13, 2026, Skai unveiled what it described as the first agent-native operating system for marketing, bundling Kenshoo Skai Studio for building and coordinating squads of AI agents, expanded capabilities in its commerce media agent Celeste, and a separate strategic advisory practice. Studio began rolling out to beta partners during summer 2026.

Skai's retail media footprint has widened on a similar cadence. Topsort named Skai its first API partner on September 23, 2025, opening access to retailers, marketplaces, and delivery applications across more than 40 countries. On April 27, 2026, Walmart Connect named Pacvue and Skai as technology integration partners for Connect Select, its curated programmatic CTV marketplace inside Walmart DSP, with Skai supplying reporting capability.

The overlap is the point. Skai's customer base concentrates in commerce and retail categories, precisely where Reddit's lower-funnel products have been aimed. Pacvue brought Reddit Ads into its Commerce Operating System in March 2026, placing the platform alongside Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Instacart in a system managing more than 100 retail media networks. Adding Skai extends the same logic to a second commerce-oriented buying stack.

The financial backdrop

The announcement follows a quarter in which Reddit's advertising growth remained steep while investor confidence wobbled.

Reddit reported second-quarter 2026 advertising revenue of $762 million on July 30, up 64% year over year, with total revenue of $804.9 million and third-quarter guidance of $860 million to $870 million. Shares fell 12.49% after hours on concerns tied to search referral exposure. The company repurchased 1.5 million Class A shares for $235 million at an average price of $157.57, leaving roughly $760 million on the authorisation announced in February. Cash, equivalents, and marketable securities stood at $2.8 billion as of June 30, 2026.

Reddit Max, the fully automated campaign type launched in beta on January 5, 2026 with 17% lower cost per action and 27% more conversions in split tests, grew its advertiser base more than 60% sequentially from the first quarter, with Max revenue up more than 150% over the same period. In the prior quarter, Reddit posted $625 million in advertising revenue, up 74%, with active advertiser count growing more than 75% year over year and conversion volume doubling.

Active advertiser growth of that magnitude creates an onboarding problem. Each new advertiser arriving at a platform with its own interface, its own naming conventions, and its own reporting schema imposes a fixed cost on the agency or in-house team adopting it. Third-party integrations move that cost onto software that has already absorbed it for other channels.

What the announcement does not say

Several things are absent from the August 11 document, and the absences are informative.

No availability date is given for either integration beyond the statement that they are complete. No list of supported campaign objectives, ad formats, or bidding types is published. No advertiser is named as an early adopter, and no performance data is attached, in contrast with most Reddit product releases over the past eighteen months, which have carried specific lift figures. The company did not indicate whether either partner receives preferential access to newer inventory such as Reminder Ads, Interactive Ads, or the Collection Ads and Shopify formats introduced through 2026.

Reddit stated that it will continue expanding the partner ecosystem, without naming further candidates or a timetable.

Why this matters for marketers

Distribution through incumbent buying software is how emerging advertising channels convert curiosity into recurring spend. A media team evaluating a new publisher weighs incremental reach against the operational tax of running it outside the standard workflow. When that tax falls to near zero, the evaluation reduces to performance alone.

Reddit has been systematically dismantling that tax. Google Analytics 4 gained native Reddit Ads cost data import on July 21, 2025A WooCommerce integration arrived on November 12, 2025 with one-click pixel and Conversions API deployment for smaller merchants. Bombora audiences became available on December 3, 2025 for business decision-maker targeting. The native Shopify integration went global on May 27, 2026 after entering alpha at Shoptalk in March.

The pattern is consistent, and it maps to a roadmap Reddit chief operating officer Jen Wong outlined alongside fourth-quarter 2025 results: scaling automation, delivering value across the full funnel through video and shopping, and expanding the Reddit for Business ecosystem through external partnerships. Four advertising tools shown at Cannes Lions in June 2026 covered the first two. The Skai and Innovid integrations cover the third.

For agencies, the immediate effect is procedural. Reddit line items can be built, trafficked, and reconciled in the same session as Meta, TikTok, and Pinterest line items, which shortens setup cycles and reduces the reconciliation errors that arise when spend data is exported and re-keyed between systems. For brands running commerce campaigns through Skai, Reddit becomes selectable in the same planning view as retail media networks rather than requiring a separate authorisation and a separate report.

There is a competitive dimension as well. Every major social platform now maintains an API partner tier, and the composition of that tier shapes which platforms surface in an agency's default channel mix. Reddit entering the same tools that carry Meta and TikTok inventory does not guarantee budget, but absence from those tools has historically been a reliable way to lose it.

The unresolved question is measurement parity. Innovid's independent attribution stack and Skai's commerce measurement layer both promise cross-channel comparability, yet neither company has published how Reddit conversions will be modelled against other publishers within those frameworks. Until that is documented, the integrations resolve a workflow problem while leaving the harder attribution question open.

Timeline

Summary

Who: Reddit, Inc., announced completed Ads API integrations with Skai, the commerce media platform operating as Kenshoo Skai, and Innovid, the ad tech platform owned by Mediaocean. Stephen Blake, Global Head of Third Party Partnerships at Reddit, provided the sole quoted statement. The announcement was written by Wen Si of Reddit product marketing.

What: Completed Reddit Ads API integrations allowing advertisers to buy, manage, and measure Reddit campaigns inside Skai and Innovid rather than in Reddit Ads Manager. No performance metrics, pricing, supported objective list, or named early adopters were disclosed.

When: Published August 11, 2026 on the Reddit for Business blog. Innovid had already added Reddit to its Social Ads Manager on December 17, 2025 and to Hypermode on April 21, 2026, making the Ads API partnership an extension of an existing connection.

Where: The integrations operate within the Skai and Innovid platforms globally. Reddit is headquartered in San Francisco, Skai maintains San Francisco headquarters with nine international offices, and Innovid is headquartered in New York.

Why: Reddit's active advertiser count grew more than 75% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, and advertising revenue reached $762 million in the second quarter, up 64%. Making the platform buyable inside the software agencies already operate reduces the setup and reconciliation overhead that has historically limited how much budget flows to channels outside the default toolset.
