Disney yesterday announced 50% of new subscribers are choosing the ad tier, meaning more reach for advertisers in Disney+.
In 2022, Disney launched an ad-tier subscription in the USA. And next month, the U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark will also have a standard plan with ads. The new ad-supported plans start at £4.99/€5.99 month in EMEA. In the US, the same plan costs $7.99.
According to Disney, from March to September 2023, the service has seen 35% increased engagement. “We’re seeing increased engagement and time spent, and now providing greater accountability for marketers through robust measurement, proving that premium content matters,” said Rita Ferro, president, Global Advertising, Disney.
