Photo Transfer Tool is first available to users in Ireland. Facebook expects to roll out the Photo Transfer Tool worldwide in the first half of 2020.
According to GDPR, users’ data should be portable, and Facebook says it engaged in the past with policymakers, regulators, academics, advocates, from the UK and Germany to Brazil and Singapore.
According to Facebook, all data transferred will be encrypted and people will be asked to enter their password before a transfer is initiated.
Data Transfer Project was launched in 2018 to create an open-source, service-to-service data portability platform so that all individuals across the web can easily move their data between online service providers whenever they want.
