Google this month adopted the SpecialAnnouncement markup, a way that websites can use to highlight COVID-19 announcements on search results. Sites can add SpecialAnnouncement structured data to their web pages or submit a COVID-19 announcement in Search Console, and the announcements are then highlighted on Google Search.
Google says the feature was designed for health and government agency sites, to cover updates like school closures or stay-at-home directives, but Google also says that hope to expand it to include more sites, so other websites can also already use the markup.
Google suggests that website owners use the markup for special announcements, highlight information such as canceled events or changes to business hours.
