Google to roll out a “link spam update” in search results

Google yesterday announced a new algorithm update called “link spam update.” According to Google, the rollout is effective at identifying and nullifying link spam more broadly, across multiple languages.

"Link spam updated" will rollout across the next two weeks, and Google says the update is part of continued efforts to improve the quality of the search results.

Google is recommending publishers to apply rel values to links that were paid, via sponsored or guest posting.

Google recommends paid links to have the attribute rel="sponsored".
