YouTube yesterday announced it will soon allow advertisers to reserve YouTube Shorts ads in the YouTube Select lineup using Display & Video 360 Instant Reserve.

YouTube Shorts is a format on YouTube that allows users to create and watch short-form videos up to 60 seconds long. Shorts videos are displayed in a vertical feed, similar to TikTok and Instagram Reels. Users can add music, filters, and effects to their Shorts videos, and they can also interact with other users by liking, commenting, and sharing videos.

YouTube Shorts was launched in beta in September 2020 and was made available to all users in July 2021. Since then, it has quickly become one of the most popular features on YouTube, with over 1.5 billion monthly active users.

This year, Google start paying creators for YouTube Shorts video views.

With the new Shorts ads feature on YouTube Select lineups, advertisers will be able to target Shorts only inventory at a fixed CPM with guaranteed delivery at agreed rates or market rates.

The Shorts ads feature on YouTube Select lineups will be available to advertisers in the following countries:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Mexico
  • Chile
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
