Facebook this month announced that the Messenger camera will no longer support scanning Messenger Codes, starting on August 15.

Messenger Codes are a special Facebook QR codes, that can be scanned to instantly link the user to a bot, no typing needed. Facebook says they were great for sticking on flyers, ads, or anywhere in the real world where companies want people to try the bot.

Facebook is now recommending to not use the Messenger Codes, as they will be discontinued. Instead, Facebook is recommending to use the normal QR codes.
