Facebook launched Facebook Shops in May, and yesterday announced the introduction of a new Shop button on Facebook app.

Users can now discover products and make purchases, directly on Facebook app, without having to use the web or other app.

Facebook is running into competition with Shopify, eBay, Amazon, retailers connected with Google Merchant Center (web), by creating a marketplace where users can buy without leaving the app. Facebook yesterday also announced that is waiving selling fees for businesses through the end of the year.

Facebook Shops selling fees are 5% per shipment, or a flat fee of USD 0.40 for shipments of USD 8.00 or less. The fee includes the cost of payment processing.

With Shopify, and BigCommerce, Facebook has a partnership.

Besides the launch of the Shop button, in the coming weeks, Facebook is making available customization features, messaging and new insights, to show retailers the results they have with their Facebook Shop.
