Facebook launches a new camera-first messaging app, Threads from Instagram

Facebook today launched Threads from Instagram, a new camera-first messaging app. Facebook says Threads is a standalone app designed with privacy, speed and and with close connections in mind. Users can share photos, videos, messages, Stories with the Instagram close friends list.

Last year, Instagram introduced Close Friends for sharing more personal moments with a select group of people users choose. Now, users can use Threads to message those people.

Users without a Close Friends list can make one directly from Threads. According to Facebook, Threads will begin rolling out globally today.
