Google today announced two advancements as part of its partnership with the Real Academia Española (RAE)'s Lengua Española e Inteligencia Artificial (LEIA) project:
- Integrating the RAE's Dictionary of the Spanish Language into Gboard: This integration brings the authoritative source of Spanish vocabulary and grammar to Gboard, the keyboard app from Google. This will enhance the accuracy and precision of Spanish text entry, providing users with better autocorrections, suggestions, and overall typing experience.
- Incorporating the RAE's Dictionary into Search: Google Search users globally can now access the Spanish Language Dictionary of the Royal Academy directly from Search results. Whether searching for word meanings, synonyms, or usage examples, users will find authoritative information powered by the RAE's extensive linguistic resources.
These enhancements build upon Google's ongoing efforts to support the Spanish language and its users. The company has previously incorporated Spanish grammar suggestions into Smart Compose and Google Docs, and has made improvements to machine-learning-powered translation services for Spanish.
