LinkedIn this week unveiled a new feature designed to help marketers effortlessly optimize their ad campaigns. Dynamic UTMs allow advertisers to automatically insert unique tracking codes into their LinkedIn ad URLs, significantly streamlining the process of measuring campaign performance.
Urchin Tracking Modules (UTMs) are essential for understanding how individual ads, campaigns, and creative elements perform. By adding custom parameters to URLs, marketers can track where traffic originates and make data-driven decisions about ad spend. However, creating and managing UTMs manually can be cumbersome and error-prone.
LinkedIn's Dynamic UTMs solve this problem by allowing marketers to embed dynamic parameters that automatically populate with relevant information like account, campaign, or ad creative name. This eliminates manual work and ensures accuracy.
Key Benefits
- Time Savings: No more manually building UTMs for each ad.
- Reduced Errors: Automatic population of data minimizes mistakes in tracking codes.
- Deeper Insights: Granular data on campaign performance supports better optimization.
Marketing professionals have been quick to praise this addition. "LinkedIn finally, FIN-AL-LY, lets you add UTMs at the campaign level, and even allows dynamic UTMs" said Gabriel Ehrlich, Founder, and CEO of Remotion. "This has always been a much needed feature for LinkedIn Ads. This just made campaign creation with LinkedIn one-step easier."
Availability
Dynamic UTMs are rolling out globally in English through the end of March 2024.
