Meta today announced it will introduce more ways for teens to manage the types of ads they see on Facebook and Instagram, starting in March.
According to Meta, in the Ad Topic Controls, teens will be able to go to their Ad Preferences within Settings on both Facebook and Instagram, and choose See Less or No Preference to further control the types of ads they see.
Meta says teens can continue to choose to hide any or all ads from a specific advertiser. And the topics Meta already restrict will be defaulted to See Less, so that teens can’t choose to opt into content that may not be age-appropriate.
Meta Advertising Standards already prohibit ads about restricted topics — like alcohol, financial products and weight loss products and services — to be shown to people under 18 (and older in certain countries).
