Shopify introduces support for WebP and HEIC image formats

Shopify today announced the support for WebP and HEIC image formats, and said that the images don’t need to be manually compressed prior to uploading, as Shopify will optimize for image quality and speed.

HEIC is the standard image format for Apple devices. WebP is an image file developed by Google as a replacement for JPEG, PNG, and GIF file formats.

According to Shopify, providing high-quality images can increase buyer trust and confidence, leading to higher conversion.
