Twitter buys Revue, a newsletter platform
Revue is Twitter's sixty-fourth acquisition. Twitter says it wants to be a better home for writers.
Twitter today announced it has acquired Revue, a newsletter platform. Revue is a platform where writers can create a newsletter for free. Paid newsletters have a fee of 5%, two times less than Substack, the most popular newsletter platform.
Martijn de Kuijper, Revue's founder, and now Senior Product Manager at Twitter, wrote that Revue will continue to operate as a standalone business.
Twitter says their goal, with the acquisition, is to make it easy for writers to connect with their subscribers, while also helping readers better discover writers and their content.
Mike Park, VP of Publisher Products at Twitter, and Kayvon Beykpour, Product Lead at Twitter, wrote that audience-based monetization will be an area that Twitter will continue to develop new ways to support.
Twitter acquired 64 companies since it was founded, in 2006, including blogging platforms, advertising companies, search engines, analytics, and video platforms.
