Yelp on October 20, 2026 put a price on automated lead handling for home services businesses: Smart Lead Reply, an AI agent that answers and vets Request a Quote inquiries inside Yelp's message threads, will cost $30 a month when it rolls out in November, according to the company. The agent is the business-facing centerpiece of Yelp's Fall Product Release, which also adds OpenTable reservations to Yelp Assistant, an AI phone agent that calls restaurants to ask about wait times, and intent-based creative for Yelp Audiences display campaigns.

In Short

Yelp is adding a robot helper that replies to people asking plumbers, movers and other service businesses for a price, and it costs those businesses $30 a month. Yelp is also letting its chatbot book OpenTable tables and is building a robot that phones restaurants to ask how long the wait is. If you run a service business on Yelp, a machine may now be the first thing a customer talks to, and Yelp has not said how often it gets things wrong.

What Yelp released

According to Yelp, the Fall Product Release contains "more than 30 new features, updates, and integrations." The post carrying the news was written by Akhil Kuduvalli Ramesh, Yelp's chief product officer, and dated October 20, 2026. An email from Yelp's communications team, sent the same day, gives the count as "30 new features" without the "more than." The difference is small, but the two documents do not agree.

The release splits into two halves. For consumers, Yelp lists updates to Yelp Assistant, its AI chatbot, including an OpenTable integration, scheduled reminders called Keep Me Posted, personalization based on past activity, weather-aware recommendations and saved chat history. It adds Check for Me, the restaurant-calling phone agent, and My Lists, a tab for saving and ranking places. For businesses, the release covers Smart Lead Reply, booking integrations with ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro, lead-management integrations with Jobber and Workiz, an aggregated leads center for multi-location businesses, intent-based custom creative for Yelp Audiences and a Shopify Conversions app tied to Yelp's Conversion API.

Yelp also says it has released "more than 80 new features and updates" during 2026, including a redesigned app interface built on Apple's Liquid Glass. The spring release accounted for more than 35 of those. PPC Land covered that release in April, when Yelp Assistant gained booking, ordering and scheduling in one chat.

Smart Lead Reply: price, inputs and the handoff

Smart Lead Reply is the item with the clearest commercial terms. Yelp describes it as "a new agentic product that responds to customers, vets leads, and helps service professionals win more business." When a consumer submits a project through Request a Quote, the agent "will step in right away - using AI to respond directly within the message thread and engage leads instantly."

The inputs are spelled out. According to Yelp, the agent "draws on information that's already in their Yelp for Business account and Yelp business page to automatically answer customer questions, gather project details, and qualify leads." Owners can add a scheduling link, specify services offered, set pricing or promotions, list questions for the agent to ask and add "preferences for how conversations should be handled." Once a lead is qualified, the agent shares the scheduling link so the consumer can book "directly within the professional's existing calendar management system." Every conversation is logged in the business's Yelp inbox, along with a notification to review the qualified lead "and pick up where the agent left off."

Who can buy it

Smart Lead Reply will be sold through the Yelp Business Owner Account for $30 per month to businesses in eligible categories that use Request a Quote, according to Yelp. The post names movers, roofers, plumbers, home cleaners, contractors and electricians, "and more." The email says it rolls out "next month for eligible service pros with Request a Quote enabled." Neither document lists the full set of categories, says whether the feature is limited to the United States, or states whether the $30 is charged on top of an existing advertising budget.

The price stands out next to Yelp's other agents. When Yelp's Fall 2025 release arrived, Yelp Receptionist cost $99 a month and Yelp Host $149. By July 2026, Yelp Host was listed at $249 a month, or $199 for Guest Manager customers. Smart Lead Reply works in text, inside the Yelp thread, rather than on the phone, which may explain part of the gap. Yelp does not explain the pricing.

What the documents leave out

Several things a business would want to know are absent. Yelp gives no accuracy figures and no rate of qualified leads, and it does not say whether the agent can quote a price that the owner did not set. There is no description of what happens when the agent gets a question it cannot answer, or whether owners can approve messages before they go out. The post says the product is "customizable" and that owners can "pick up where the agent left off," but it does not describe an off switch, a trial period or how a consumer is told that a reply came from software.

The release also does not mention Hatch. Yelp agreed in January 2026 to buy Hatch for about $270 million in cash, plus $30 million in retention payments, to add AI agents that answer, qualify and book leads for services businesses across SMS, email and voice. Smart Lead Reply describes a similar job, confined to Yelp's own message threads. Whether it runs on Hatch technology is not stated in either document. In September, Yelp moved the voice layer of both Yelp Host and Hatch onto OpenAI's GPT-Live-1; the fall release names no model provider for any feature.

Scheduling and lead plumbing for service pros

The second business change is about where leads land once they arrive. According to Yelp, for professionals who use the services operating systems ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro for scheduling, "customers can now book appointments directly from Yelp." The scheduling link appears on the business page, in search listings, within Yelp Assistant and in Yelp messages after a quote request is sent.

The email frames the same integration differently. It says the ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro integrations "let service pros confirm appointments directly on Yelp," which reads as an action by the business rather than a booking by the consumer. The post's wording describes consumer booking. Neither says whether a booked slot is confirmed automatically in the pro's calendar or held for approval.

Jobber and Workiz sit on the other side of the pipeline. Through these lead-management integrations, Request a Quote leads "will flow directly into the business's platform of choice, complete with full job details," according to Yelp. The post links to Jobber's app marketplace and to a Workiz integrations page, which suggests the connection is configured from the partner side. Yelp also says it has expanded its Calendly integration for professionals with connected accounts. Calendly was due later in summer 2026 when the spring release came out.

For multi-location businesses, Yelp describes a "redesigned aggregated leads center" that "consolidates every Request a Quote lead from all locations into a single, full-featured inbox." The email calls it "the new Aggregated Leads Center," while the post calls it redesigned. Both cannot be fully right: a redesign implies an earlier version existed.

Consumers get a matching change. Quote requests for up to five different projects can now be submitted in a single Yelp Assistant conversation. Yelp's example is a person selling a home and moving at the same time, contacting a mover, deep cleaner, landscaper and painter at once.

Why the lead pipeline matters to Yelp

Services are most of Yelp's business. In 2024, services advertising brought in $879 million of Yelp's $1.41 billion in revenue, roughly 62% by PPC Land's calculation. That segment has stopped growing. In the second quarter of 2026, services advertising revenue was $240.96 million, essentially flat year over year, while restaurants, retail and other advertising fell 10% to $101.53 million. Ad clicks fell 5%. In the same report, Yelp said Yelp Assistant accounted for about 10% of Request a Quote projects in the quarter.

Faster replies and fewer abandoned leads are the obvious levers when click volume is shrinking. Competition for those leads has also widened. Google started charging Local Services advertisers for unanswered calls over 20 seconds from October 1, 2026, which has pushed third-party response tools into the same space. Amazon, meanwhile, began placing Yelp-sourced plumber and roofer ads on its order confirmation and package tracking pages in September, a route that requires businesses to advertise on Yelp first.

Check for Me: an AI agent that phones restaurants

Check for Me reverses the direction of Yelp Host. Instead of an AI answering a restaurant's phone, Yelp's agent places the call. According to Yelp, a consumer taps "Check wait time now," enters a party size and phone number, and "an AI phone agent calls the restaurant on your behalf and updates you within minutes." The result arrives as a text message.

Availability is narrow. Yelp says Check for Me "is rolling out in the coming months on eligible restaurant business pages and Yelp Assistant when walk-ins are possible in the U.S. on iOS." The email repeats the "coming months" timing but drops the U.S. and iOS limits.

The documents say nothing about the restaurant's side of the call. They do not say whether the agent identifies itself as automated, whether restaurants can opt out of receiving such calls, how often one restaurant can be called or what eligibility means. A restaurant already using Yelp Host could, in principle, end up with one Yelp AI phoning another. Yelp does not address that case. Yelp Waitlist, which restaurants can already run, would answer the same question without a phone call, and Yelp Assistant now lets diners join that waitlist directly in the chat at eligible restaurants and then monitors their status.

Yelp Assistant: OpenTable, reminders and more personal data

OpenTable is the headline consumer integration. According to Yelp, Yelp Assistant now offers "access to tens of thousands of OpenTable restaurants across the U.S." A user asks for a recommendation or for help booking a specific restaurant and is prompted to choose a date, time and party size "within Yelp Assistant on iOS." Booking confirmation and reservation changes are handled on OpenTable.

That makes OpenTable a partner on two fronts. In July, Yelp Host added OpenTable reservations for restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. The assistant integration now sends consumers to OpenTable inventory as well. Combined with Yelp Reservations, Yelp Waitlist, DoorDash and Grubhub, Yelp says the assistant covers booking and ordering "across more than half a million restaurants." Yelp does not split that figure by partner, and the commercial terms with OpenTable are not disclosed.

Yelp's integrations now run in both directions. Since August, Yelp Reservations and Waitlist have been bookable inside ChatGPT for Guest Manager restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. The fall release brings a third-party reservation network into Yelp's own chatbot.

Keep Me Posted and personalization

The Keep Me Posted feature lets users schedule recurring recommendations. Yelp's examples include "new date night ideas every Wednesday" and "a list of nearby dog-friendly hikes once a month." Reminders arrive as push and in-app notifications and can be revised or switched off in Yelp settings or by asking the assistant.

Personalization goes further than reminders. According to Yelp, new updates use "your Yelp activity - including past Yelp Assistant conversations and review history - to suggest relevant follow-up prompts." The company then adds: "Soon, it will draw from your prior Yelp searches, preferences, saved businesses, and other app activity for even more personalized answers." No date is given for that second step, and the post does not describe a setting to keep activity out of the assistant's answers. Chat history is also new. The assistant saves recent chats summarized by topic, showing the past 30 days, "with full history available in the coming weeks."

Real-time weather is now factored into recommendations. Yelp's example is the assistant suggesting a user skip a patio-only restaurant when rain is forecast. The post says "more real-world, timely data will come to Yelp Assistant soon," without naming sources. Other interface changes include an interactive map of nearby businesses, quick replies, action buttons to call, join a waitlist, reserve or visit a website, and access to the assistant from search pages and the search bar on iOS and Android, in addition to its dedicated tab.

Yelp's stated case for the assistant rests on its own content: "hundreds of millions of reviews, photos, and detailed business information contributed by real people." In May, a Foundation Marketing and AirOps report found that Yelp received about 3.4 times more AI citations than the next platform in local search answers.

My Lists

My Lists is a new tab on iOS and Android, with lists viewable on desktop. Users create two types of list, "Been Here" and "Want to Go," then filter by location, category and cuisine, reorder entries, add notes and share them by text, WhatsApp or social media. Sharing a filtered view is limited to iOS. Saved businesses appear in search results with a save icon as the map pin.

The ranking data has a second use. According to Yelp, "next month" it "will begin surfacing weekly personalized recommendations based on your 'Been Here' lists and rankings," in the home feed and the My Lists tab. Existing collections are renamed lists. A unified "Lists" section, bringing together a user's lists, followed lists, friends' lists and curated local lists, is also due in November, and a redesign with a map view is planned for later this year.

For businesses, a ranked "Been Here" list is a stronger signal than a bookmark. It records a visit and a preference relative to competitors. Yelp does not say whether these rankings feed ad targeting or search ranking.

Advertising: intent-based creative and Shopify measurement

Two changes affect brand advertisers. Yelp Audiences, the off-platform product Yelp launched in July 2021 to buy display, app and connected TV inventory against Yelp search intent, now supports "intent-based custom creative." According to Yelp, the feature matches "each consumer's past intent on Yelp with the most relevant brand creative." The example: a consumer who recently searched for salads on Yelp might later see an ad featuring a brand's salad while browsing elsewhere. Yelp says it selects "from a wide range of creative variations to serve the right ad at the right moment."

In effect, this is a form of dynamic creative optimization keyed to Yelp search categories. Yelp claims it drives "stronger advertising engagement and higher ROI," but publishes no test results, lift figures or baseline. The feature is "available through their account representative," with no self-serve option and no pricing. The post does not describe how long past intent is retained or how much inventory runs through demand-side platforms rather than Yelp's own properties.

Measurement is the second change. Yelp's new Shopify Conversions app lets brand advertisers connect Yelp's Conversion API to a Shopify store, "linking Yelp ad clicks and views to purchases." Counting view-through purchases tends to raise reported conversions compared with click-only attribution, and Yelp does not specify the attribution window for either clicks or views. Server-side conversion connections of this kind, often called a Conversions API, are now standard on larger platforms, and Yelp's version links to a product page on its brands site. The post gives no launch date for the Shopify app, so it appears to be available now.

How the two documents differ

Most of the email repeats the post. The differences, besides the feature count, are these. The email describes the ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro integrations as letting pros "confirm appointments directly on Yelp," where the post describes customer booking. It calls the leads center new rather than redesigned. It omits the $30 price for Smart Lead Reply and the U.S. and iOS limits on Check for Me. It lists Calendly alongside Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan as scheduling integrations in the assistant, consistent with the post. The email links to a product video on YouTube and to a press kit containing a press release, images and video files; the press release itself was not among the documents provided.

The post links to OpenTable, ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro home pages, to Jobber's app marketplace listing for Yelp, to a Workiz page on its Yelp integration, to Yelp's Yelp Audiences and Conversions API product pages, and to two Yelp consumer articles on Yelp Assistant and My Lists. It does not link to a help-centre page for Smart Lead Reply, Check for Me or the personalization controls.
