Google this week rolled out a series of updates to Looker Studio, its free data visualization and reporting tool. These enhancements aim to improve user experience and expand data exploration capabilities. The update introduces a new centralized forum for the Looker Studio community, integrates Looker drill-down functionalities, and introduces several new partner connectors to the Looker Studio Report Gallery.

Community Migration: The Looker Studio community forum has transitioned to the Google Cloud platform. This move aims to provide a more centralized location for users to connect, share knowledge, and receive support. All Looker Studio and Looker Studio Pro users can access the new forum.

Looker Drill Fields Now in Looker Studio: Drill fields and links defined within Looker using the drill_fields and link LookML parameters are now accessible in Looker Studio reports. Report viewers can access these functionalities through the "Drill Actions" menu on Looker Studio table charts. This update allows for deeper exploration of data directly within reports.

New Partner Connectors: Several new partner connectors have been added to the Looker Studio Report Gallery, expanding the data sources users can integrate into their reports. These connectors include:

    • Pro Rank Tracker - SEO Data by F.T.B ONLINE LTD: This connector allows users to import and visualize data related to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) performance, potentially providing insights into website traffic acquisition.
    • CallRail by Catchr.io: This connector integrates call tracking data from CallRail, enabling users to analyze call metrics alongside other data sources within Looker Studio reports.
    • Basis by Supermetrics: This connector allows users to import data from Basis, a business intelligence platform.
    • Facebook Ads by Adzviser: This connector enables visualization of data from Facebook advertising campaigns within Looker Studio reports.
    • LinkedIn Revenue Attribution by Supermetrics: This connector allows users to import and analyze revenue attribution data from LinkedIn marketing campaigns.
    • Pinterest Organic by Catchr.io: This connector integrates data on organic performance from Pinterest, potentially providing insights into organic reach and engagement on the platform.

The addition of Looker drill fields can enhance data exploration capabilities within reports. Finally, the new partner connectors offer users more flexibility in terms of the data sources they can integrate into Looker Studio, potentially leading to more comprehensive and informative reports.
