Flipboard TV is now Ad-Supported

Flipboard this week launched Flipboard TV for free to all users. In February, this year, when Flipboard TV was launched, the fee was $2.99 per month.

Flipboard TV is now free and ad-supported, with only one exception: Samsung Galaxy owners. Samsung Galaxy owners had the service for free since the launch, back in February, and now will get the service without ads.

Flipboard TV is available on Web, via the Flipboard app on iOS, and via the Flipboard app Android.

According to Flipboard, nearly 300 sources with videos are connected with Flipboard. Sources include Reuters, Bloomberg, Euronews, and Associated Press, that distribute content via video feeds.

Flipboard is also curating video content. Flipboard TV has 20 video channels for news, politics, travel, lifestyle, celebrity, sports, and more.

Is Flipboard TV riding the OTT wave? Nielsen this month said OTT is one-fourth of all television minutes viewed in 2020.

OTT stands for over-the-top. OTT content can be viewed on multiple devices, including mobile, desktops, laptops, tablets, and connected TVs, and is content normally designed for TV. Examples of OTT content are TV Channels, HBO Now, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube, and now Flipboard TV.
