Google+ APIs shutting down on March 7, 2019

Google this week confirmed the date when Google+ APIs will be shut down: March 7, 2019. Until now, only the sunset month was known. The Google+ Sign-in feature has been fully depreciated and will also be shut down on March 7, 2019. Developers should migrate to the more comprehensive Google Sign-in authentication system, says Google.

The most commonly used APIs that are being shut down include:

  • Google+ REST API
  • Google+ Web API
  • Google+ Android SDK
  • Google+ Domains API
  • Google+ Pages API

Google advises all developers reliant on the Google+ APIs that calls to those APIs may start to intermittently fail as early as January 28, 2019. Affected developers will receive an email, listing recently used Google+ API methods in their projects.
