Google this month announced that is expanding the free listings to the Shopping tab in countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Google expects the change will take effect by mid-October 2020.
According to Google, the shopping results will work like Google Search index. There will be free listings and paid listings. Retailers can participate via Google Merchant Center.
Google says retailers running free listings and ads got an average of twice as many views and 50 percent more visits in the US, where free listings were introduced in April.
Google states that small and medium-sized businesses saw the biggest increases since the free listings launched there.
Advertisers in Europe can also choose Comparison Shopping Services (CSS) to work with free listings.
